Volvo Powertrain Chooses Transformance Advisors

We are proud to announce that Volvo Powertrain, located in Hagerstown, Maryland, has selected us to help with their lean initiative.

The Client:

This facility is a major producer of engines for Volvo trucks as well as engines and transmissions for Mack trucks. For many years, Volvo has been known as a leader in innovation in terms of lean manufacturing. In recent years, this facility has made dramatic progress in energy efficiency and water conservation has been made. Since 2004, Volvo Powertrain has cut their wastewater generation in half, reduced their energy consumption, and lowered their greenhouse gas emissions.

The Challenge:

The team at Volvo has challenged Paul Gleditsch, our VP of Lean Programs, to help them improve material movement within the facility. They are working to synchronize an assembly line, reduce wait time, and implement a kanban system within the facility. Paul specializes in helping teams focus on bottom line financial results through skills in leadership, knowledge transfer, change management, and the application of best practices. He is also in charge of our Certified Lean Master program, which has allowed many organizations to make sigificant improvements through an exteremly cost effective approach that includes education, application, and coaching.
